Dynamic Balance for Active Aging

Enhance your balance, coordination and body awareness through a unique blend of yoga inspired movement and functional balance training. This class is a blend of basic yoga principles of mindfulness & breath control but also integrates dynamic stability exercises, visual tracking drills, reaction training and controlled perturbations (gentle challenges to your balance) to help you stay steady and responsive in everyday life. The yoga components are based on a research study, designed and conducted by Physiotherapists from the School of Rehabilitation Science, at the University of Saskatchewan. If have you have taken my Better Balance thru Yoga class before, this class will include many new activities and exercises designed to challenge and practice your balance in a fun and playful way!

Using supportive props, such as a chair, wall, and yoga blocks you will move through mindful yoga sequences that build core strength, flexibility and postural control, then transition into balance based challenges that will test your ability to recover and adapt.

This program is designed to be inclusive for everyone. No prior yoga experience required and is perfect for anyone wanting to improve their balance for daily activities and overall well being. Modifications are offered throughout the class to meet you where you are at.

Dates: 5 weeks- Fridays: January 9, 16, 30 & February 6 & 13 (2026)

Time: 10-11 am

Location: Cathedral Neighborhood Centre (290 13th Avenue)

Equipment needed: Yoga mat and large towel (beach towel works great) & yoga block if you have one
